Request option to select either V-Ray or Enscape for SU Studio

Hello,

Being that both V-Ray and Enscape are Chaos products. I was hoping that in the future, SketchUp Studio could allow users to choose between either of the two for their rendering needs. I have not worked much with V-Ray, but have used Enscape for many years now and love the quick results I get for my projects. I believe V-Ray is suited well for the rendering artist wanting to achieve the best results. Enscape seems well suited for those of us that want fairly good results fast without needing to fuss around with technical settings. I love that I can label a material “steel”, “water”, “marble”, “aluminium”, “grass”, “carpet”… and the material ends up looking like the material name listed.

You can use it… just download, install, pay for it, etc…

Do you mean you want it as an option for be part of the studio bundle?

Yes, sorry that is what I meant. I have been paying for and using Enscape for years. I pay for SU Studio for the Point Cloud capabilities and do not use V-Ray. It would help a bit on my annual costs to bundle Enscape with SU Studio instead of V-Ray for my case.

so, you should contact your local reseller and not get it from su’s website.
Turns out they can sell variants of studio (cheaper), with point cloud and/or revit importer and without vray.

edit : but I agree, they’re both from the same editor, price is close enough, it could be cool to have a pick. not sure it’s going to be renegociated anytime soon…

OK, I edited the title of the post for clarity.

Thanks for the tip. I’ve always bought SU directly. I’ll check out what a reseller can offer. Anyone recommend a good reseller? I live in Oakland, California in case that matters. Thanks again.

I just spoke with a sales rep at https://novedge.com/. As a reseller, they do not see Scan Essentials as something they can sell separate from SketchUp Studio. I do use Scan Essentials, so it seems I may be stuck for the moment. Hopefully the SketchUp/Chaos negotiating team will consider my request. I find the real-time rendering, VR, and fast image and video output of Enscape fantastic and think offering that as an option to SU Studio users would be a great benefit to Trimble and their sales.

Before Chaos bought Enscape, in a SU survey from Trimble, I suggested that Trimble should acquire Enscape and incorporate it into SU. A bonus of this could be the ability to have real-time rendering in viewports inside of LayOut.

The subscription is called SketchUp Advanced Workflows.
