This problem is described in a previous topic: Rendering of material with texture seems to have changed from 2024 to 2025 version . Until recently I could choose to use the classic graphics engine instead of the new graphics engine" as a work-around. That comes with a cost of poorer rendering, no ambient occlusion available etc.
But with the latest version of Sketchup PRO : 26.1.256 64 bit, that is no longer an option: With this version, the classic graphics engine doesn’t work properly with two monitors with different DPIs and scalings, at least on my setup. The aspect ratio is distorted in the secondary monitor, the hot-spot of various tools is moved away from the tool icon etc. So I have to use the new graphics engine, although textures are distorted heavly as shown in the previous topic referred above.
I have two questions:
Will there be support for the Qualcomm Adreno graphics card in the new graphics engine?
(The full name and spec of the card in my laptop is: Qualcomm(R) Adreno ™ X1-85 GPU, 128MB)
Are there any thing I can do except from downgrading to version 26.1.189 - the previous version of Sketchup?
I can’t speak for what Trimble will do in the future but I wouldn’t expect any specific support for that GPU in the future. In general, things have been drifting away from integrated graphics.
Thank you for your reply! I just forwarded my questions to the Technical Support. I fear I have to buy a new machine to have Sketchup working properly…
ARM64 processors are able to emulate x64 on Windows 11 in a VM capacity, but are not supported.
Graphics emulation in a virtual machine are known to have limitations.
You could run Windows Update to see if there are any graphics driver updates. They only come through Microsoft after validation.
Otherwise we would suggest a machine with a discrete GPU preferably Nvidia with it’s own VRAM (the more the better.) Integrated GPUs “steal” memory from the system.
If you want to use an arm device and SketchUp I recommend you to get a Mac, SketchUp runs natively on Apple silicon which is an arm SOC, a very powerful one imo.
Thank you for your answer. It confirms with the answer I got from a AI query on recommondations regarding PC to run Sketchup 2026 on. Regarding requirements on graphics card it said:
*Graphics Card (GPU):NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, 4070, 5060, or 5070 with a minimum of 8 GB VRAM. Avoid integrated graphics (Intel Graphics/AMD Radeon Graphics) and Windows-on-ARM laptops (Snapdragon) for heavy 3D workloads
*
Integrated Graphics and Windows-on-ARM is exactly what I have in my current machine. It seems quite clear that I have to get a new PC to have Sketchup working properly.
BTW, I upgraded manually the graphics card driver without any visible effect.
Microsoft Prism is what allows traditional Windows programs to run on your machine - I would make sure that you have the very latest version off windows installed - as the compatibility improves over time.
You could also install the latest snapdragon GPu drivers from
Here
Your subscription also has access to the web version - so you could also use that
