Render really slow and crashing

Hi,

I have posted on here before about my render being really slow and then crashing and it is happening again. I have tried purging and deleting unnecessary parts.

Does anyone know what I can do? I have a deadline for today and need to render it asap.

The app has been crashing for the past two days whenever I render this model. I have saved it as a component and tried importing it into a new sketchup window and the same thing happens.

Thanks in advance

You can upload your file to a cloud service (Dropbox, WeTransfer, Google Drive…), make it available, and post the link here. Purge it first.
What renderer are you using?

Whenever I purge, the app crashes too!

What program/extension do you use to render?
Vray, Enscape, Twilight, Rayscaper, Other?

vray

I did manage to purge the file in sketchup22 without crash, making the file 27 MB smaller

Unfortunately i do not use vray, so i can not help you with this issue, my appologies :innocent:

Oh amazing! Thanks so much, do you mind sending me the file back? That is really kind of you

Thanks so much!

I have opened your and also managed to do a clean up and it is still so slow :frowning:

Optimize your model if you want better performance, including rendering.

You created a crooked ridge, using 100 segments for the arc and getting a group with 7000 entities. You can get a better result, with only 600 entities and creating the component, since you still use it in a few other places on the roof.

In many elements of your model you could use a smaller number of edges and get at least as good a rendering result, with only a tenth of the number of entities (edges and faces) used.

windows

roof ridges

doors

And use tags for every object in your model.

Thank you for spotting these! This is really helpful. I will delete as many as possible!

How did you create the roof ridge? very good!

I have deleted the parts you said and still the same! When you render the visual on your end is it really slow too?

A simple path and a perpendicular face, then Follow Me. Texturing using Fredo ThruPaint.

Did you also purged the model after that?

You can remove all ‘Render elements’ and reset to factory settings. Also find out what graphics card you have and if it’s Nvidia RTX, set it to use it.
In ‘Render output’ try testing with 2048 instead of 3000px as you set.
In ‘Quality’ you can choose ‘Medium+’.
And see if the rendering time improves.

Perfect thank you!!

I don’t have anything to add here, other than this is a really fun method of achieving this

That’s right, Justin, like most models you create with SketchUp, it’s relaxing and a pleasure. Thanks!
