Recover a Corrupted Sketchup File?

will do. Thanks again for the help, you saved me a lot of work.

Bonjour,

Pensez vous pouvoir me récupérer mon fichier ?

En vous remerciant d’avance et vous souhaitant une agréable journée,

Unfrotunately the .skp file contains nothing but zeroes.

The last 85% of the .skb file is nothing but zeroes.
zeroes

Where were you saving the file while working on it? To a cloud service or an external drive? Are you using a cr acked version of SketchUp? Did you experience a power failure while working on it?

Je l’enregistre sur le disque de mon ordinateur. Non je paye un abonnement pro. Mon ordinateur à crasher et j’ai du l’éteindre (à cause de lumion) mais j’avais effectué la sauvegarde avant

Evidently something failed in the save process.

Unfortunately the files you shared are not recoverable. You would need to start over. Going forward, save locally and also save a copy to your Trimble Connect storage so you have another backup of the file.

Merci pour votre aide

You’re welcome. I’m sorry I couldn’t do anything to fix the files.

Hi DaveR,
I have issue with file too. During Computer have issue and restarted during I using the file.
File cannot be open after that.

Can you help me check if it possible to recover?

Nothing but zeroes.

Where were you saving the file while working on it? Is it a cr acked version of SketchUp you’re using?

Hi DaveR. My apology. I am quite new on this.
Please try again.

I already did. See my edit above.

oh Thank you for your help.

Please answer my questions. It helps to sort out where the problem lies.

I’m using Sketchup Pro 2024 (subscription one). I saved the file in to my local drive. It was happen that my computer restarted.

Why still SketchUp 2024?

You should be utilizing the unlimited storage at Trimble Connect to save backups of your files in addition to saving locally.

If it restarted while the file was open or SketchUp was trying to save, that could be a problem.

Are you certain there’s no simultaneous syncing to One Drive or Google Drive going on?

Have you tried renaming the .skb file to .skp and opening it?

I did try to rename skb file. also try to use skp2025 to import. but nothing works.
I have my own synology home server that might did realtime sync the file.

I’m plan to move to 2025 soon but still no time yet.

Might want to turn the realtime sync off.

Hi everyone, I’m facing a “Failed to open document” error with a 45MB file in SketchUp 2022. I’ve already tried:

  1. Renaming the .skb to .skp.

  2. Importing the file into a new blank document (it fails).

  3. Renaming to .zip to extract data (it says the archive is corrupted).

  4. Checking Windows Previous Versions (none available).

The file still has its original size (45MB), so the data is there. Could someone (maybe @colin or @DaveR) help me check if the file structure can be repaired?

Thank you so much!

More than half of the file is just zeros. I don´t think is recoverable, probably @colin could try something with his specials tools, but i wouldn’t have high expectations, actually in your case I´d start all over again as soon as possible.

Is there a reason why you are still using version 2022? Is it a cr acked version? Where were you saving the file? it’s known that saving anywhere but the internal storage can lead to data loss, like in your case.

I saved in a google drive cloud… and the problem started after the power went out. I know that is the cause, but I’m still trying to recover the file or some part of it, if its possible
