Can I receive and view files from my contractor who has version2018 with sketchup pro.

Yes, you can. All versions of SketchUp are backwards compatible.
Your contractor won’t be able to open your files though. And also not the files that he sent to you if you save them on your newer version. (and send them back)
Your forum profile states you are using SketchUp Go. You should update it as that information helps us to help you. (and operating system is either Windows 10 or 11, MacOS+ version…)
