I went to update a drawing this morning and I all of a sudden all the viewports (rendered in Raster format) were heavily distorted. The dimension lines do not line up with the model anymore either. See screenshot below:
What is the deal with this? For a file like this I usually render in raster to keep my machine running smoothly. I have never seen this issue before now. What is going on?
I opened the LayOut file and went to the same detail you show. This is what it looks like. I didn’t do anything but open the file. The viewports are rendered as Vector when I opened the file.
I looked through the other detail views in your document and I don’t see any issues with them, either.
Looking at your SketchUp model I do note that the object of interest here is located at a large distance from the origin relative to its size and the zoom level of the camera. This kind of thing has caused issues in LO for some users but that’s normally when they render the viewport as Vector or Hybrid so it shouldn’t be an issue with your Raster-render viewports.
I rebooted my machine and re-opened the Layout file and that seemed to fix the raster glitch… I guess I should follow the standard IT protocol of “Did you turn it off and back on” before posting on the forum…. Thanks for the insights as always @DaveR
These are all custom plates. But the general style and design is pretty standard. We use connections similar to these on basically every project.
TBH, I hadn’t thought of it in those terms but I suppose it applies. I’m not sure where it comes from but I’ve noticed that in the last couple of years I get weird graphics anomalies (not just with SketchUp or LayOut) when I haven’t done a cold reboot of my computer for a long time. Seems like the graphics card needs a dope slap or something.
Glad that sorted things out for you.
I was just wondering if you could make a collection of these plate components and use them to create a scrapbook. If you did that there’d be no concerns about distance from origin or anything. In LayOut you could set up the wiews with dimensions as a group (as you’ve done) and use it as a scrapbook element that you would drag into your document. If needed you could edit the specific component to adjust dimensions, too.
