Raster images doing something odd since update today

Just updated my Sketchup Pro and dreawings sent to layout when in raster mode are showing distorted and leaving ghosts when changing to hybrid or vector. Very odd.

You’re referring to this?

Typically this is caused by the model being located at a great distance from the origin. In your model however this isn’t the case. Not sure what changes might have been made before you shared the LO file but updating the reference corrected the issue for me.

You say you recently updated SketchUp. Does that mean you installed SketchUp 2025?

A couple of observations with your model and LO file:

I think you would find the viewports easier to set up in LayOut if you center the model in all of the scenes. That makes setting alignment in the viewports less work. Examples from SketchUp:

In LayOut make sure you avoid changing the camera position for the viewports. In this file you only have one that has been modified but if for some reason the viewport gets reset, it creates more work for you.

After reset:

Instead of panning the camera just drag the edges of the viewport to show what you need. If the model was centered in the scene in SketchUp, there’d be no need to recenter the view in LayOut.

Do you still see the strange appearance in this file?

I centeredall the elevation and plan views of the model and updated the viewports. I also fixed the one viewport so it’s not modified.

Hi Dave

Thanks for the answer. The update today was just a mod of 2025. I always centre my sketchup scenes and set them generally with the zoom function so that they sit fully in the screen as you suggest. The model you have updated works fine with the hybrid setting but try putting it back to raster. See if the same error occurs for both of us.
Your model rasterised.

Please update your forum profile. It shows you are using SketchUp 2024.

As I showed in my screenshot, the model was not centered in the model space in the file embedded in your LO file.

It’s strange that on your machine it shows the model shifted off to the left. It didin’t look like that when I saved the file. I see the model shifted in the viewport but it corrects itself when I render as Hybrid and remains when I go back to Raster.

I did leave the model shifted off to the left in that scene as you had it because it looked like you wanted a better view of the side of the window.

Profile updated.
All I was looking for was a overall view of the window. Sketchup scene is set in the centre zoomed to fit and sent to layout. Comes out on the left each time. I have reset and created a new layout file with the same result. Yours seems to work just as mine used to before the update.

Even stranger as I elongate the viewport to try and encompass the drawing after preserving scale the drawing becomes totally distorted as well.

Here’s a three casement window sent to layout with the same result!!!

Hi Dave

Ok. So I have saved and closed my Sketchup model. Closed everything down. Reloaded. Opened Sketchup file and Layout file. Updated the Layout doc. and all of a sudden. All fine. Clearly ghost in the machine. Thanks for the input. Hope it all stays the same. By the way todays mod was to version 25.0.660 64 bit

Thank you.

It’s strange that I didn’t see that in many of the scenes in the .skp file.

Indeed, this is strange. I’ve never seen that before.

Does that mean you rebooted your computer?

That’s definitely a strange thing but I’m glad that restarting fixed it.

We’ve seen many reports of strange things associated with the drivers for AMD Radeon graphics cards. Maybe this is another. Might be a good idea to get the latest drivers for the card and install them even if you think they are up to date.

Fingers crossed that you don’t see the ghost again.

All necessary elevations and sections centred . Probably the rest of the unused scenes all over the place. Didn’t reboot computer. Just closed all files and reopened them.
Never had it happen before which is why I thought the update might be the reason. But all fine today. So far.
