Quick help needed with dwg import

Hey folks, I’m having a nightmare trying to get a 2d dwg file of some signage logos to import.

No matter what I do I’m getting the ‘Some geometry is very far from the origin’ message and ‘import failed’

I’m working from supplied eps graphics files which I have imported to Vectorworks and then exported to dwg.

There is nothing in the Vectorworks file that is outside of the logos themselves. Same if I re-import the dwg file back in to Vectorworks.

but whatever I try - exporting dwg straight from illustrator, opening the dwg in illustrator and re-exporting from there - I get the same message and import failed.

If any one can get it to import and can send me back a skp file you would be a hero and save me tearing my hair out.

Dropbox link to the dwg file: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/dm4l8rntkliojtiygsy4e/Logos.dwg?rlkey=qrx3m8tpa30w0vx717xktr15l&dl=0

The biggest problem is that the file contains only hatch objects. They might be ignored by the importer. I don’t have AutoCad, but if I had I would try recreating the hatch outlines before retrying the import.

How about sharing the EPS file and seeing if anyone can work on that instead?

Edit: - Actually, try the attached? Does this work ok?

I took the DWG to Rhino, exploded the hatches and saved as DWG. Then I opened the original again, and recreated the hatch boundaries, and re-saved. Then imported into SketchUp with Meters as the import unit. The results of the first method are on the left, and the second on the right. The scale is probably all wrong.

it does indeed. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much!

The second version is great.

Scale doesnt matter at all, can deal with that.
