Most of my models can get pretty heavy, so I like to occasionally purge.
Recently every time I purge the model crashes.
Sometimes I am able to re-open the model and successfully purge.
But most of the time I can’t purge at all.

What steps are you using to purge the model?
This is the path I follow:
WINDOW-MODEL INFO-PURGE UNUSED
Still SketchUp 2022?
What happens if you try purging just unused components first? Then materials, styles, and tags individually.
I tried to purge unused components first, but the same thing happens.
I am using Pro 2024.
Can you share the .skp file?

Here is a link to model I am working on:
I’ll see what I can do with it.
Well, I reduced the excessively large textures in the model and then ran TIG’s Purge All.
No issues at all. Makes me wonder if it is a hardware issue on your end. Where is the file being saved while you are working on it?
It definitely did need a purge.

FWIW, I had no issue purging without resizing the textures.
I used to have this: a workaround for a heavy file is to use multiple files. If you start an outline of an object/concept in that model then Copy > open a new file and then use Paste in place, you can then use this file to model that object/ceoncept. If you do this over multiple objects etc you can have lots of different file focusing on different aspects, it keeps the file size down and you can at the end, either bring them back in Paste in place. For me this have helped alot as i model large construction projects and i was getting crashes all the time. I now use the system above. have one main file with the site layout etc then have mutliple for pipework, civils etc and bring them in to the main file when needed. Also try to model everything yourself, some of the stuff of 3d library are terrible.
