Problems with my SketchUp Free

Hello,
I am new to SketchUp, and having an issue with dimensioning. When I try to move a grouped item by typing 8’ it says invalid measurements. But when I type 96" it works. Any setting that would correct this?

What browser are you using? You should be able to type 8’ and hit Enter to get an 8 foot move. Maybe you could share the .skp file so we can see what you are working with.

This is what I get in Chrome when moving the selection 8 feet.

Iam using Microsoft edge. Should I be using chrome.

You could try Chrome and see what happens. Generally Chrome seems to be better suited for running Chrome. As you can see, it works for me.

Again, if you share your model maybe we’ll see something in it that is involved.

Okay I’ll try chrome if it doesn’t work will post up the sketchup file

OKaay here it is . Could you take a look please?

You’ve provided a viewer link but that won’t let us do anything to the model. Download it to your computer and then drag and drop the .skp file into a reply.

Okay here it is again. try this

Hmmm … Nothing in your model should prevent you from entering the dimension as 8’.

Are you sure you’re typing 8 and then an apostrophe? And you are not clicking in the Measurements window?

Yes , I am typing 8` then enter , trying to move it in the Z positive axis

how are getting the automatic densioning to show up on your file 1 and 9? mine is not doing that

When I type in an astropophy, I get this: 8’

how are you recording the movements and entry in the file maybe if i show you , then you will see

This works for me, also.

I added the edge segment at a foot from your roof and put in the dimension with the Dimension tool. I only did that so you can see that when I type 8’ and press Enter it moves 8 feet.

I used a free app called LICEcap to create the GIF.

I dont know why but I can enter 96" either way (direction) But 8 doesn`t work

I don’t know why but I can enter 96" either way (direction) But 8 doesnt work

I wonder if it’s a keyboard issue. Your text looks funny in your replies.

Hello Does anyone else have any suggestions as to a fix for this?

Clearly there is something wrong with your computer or the way you are entering the distance. SketchUp for Web is working fine.

I thought you were going to make a screen capture video so we can see what you are doing.

i am trying to download it now.
