Problems with Layout

That´s also subjective, many people, including myself, find the program intuitive, compared with Autocad, Archicad, Revit and many other softwares on the market, LayOut is a lot easier to learn, all the programs require time and practice to learn, even Paint or Word, I don’t consider that the learning curve of SketchUp and LayOut is steep, the UI is very friendly with the basic tools by default and once you get familiarized with the software you can personalize it with the tools you want and create shortcuts like on Sketchup. I understand that deadlines can get us stressed and that can make the learning process a bit frustrating cause we just want to get all the knowledge as fast as possible, Layout an Sketchup have an advantage, a lot of people are using these softwares and there are millions of resources on the world wide web to speed up the learning process. Just keep practicing and trying and you’ll see that in a few days or weeks you’re gonna have the knowledge to create good documents and feel comfortable with the software, once you reach that point it becomes a lot easier to master Sketchup and Layout, just remember that the program evolves, Layout evolves slower than SketchUp, and you must keep learning all the time, I have more than 13 years using SketchUp and Layout but every now and then I learn something new.
I would share resources that helped me to learn Layout but they’re all in Spanish, anyways if you search on the internet you’ll find more resources in English. You should start with the free courses on the SketchUp Campus website, that will give you the basic knowledge to be dangerous enough with the program, there are great books also, Nick Sonder wrote a very good one that will help you to become a Sage.

Thank you Francis. I am taking your advice - i have a “flat spot” at the moment, here in Australia Christmas/New Year is summer holidays so my clients are either at the beach or wrangling grandchildren, so architectural designs take a back seat - and I’m delving into Sketchup Campus starting with Basics and Essentials. It is VERY helpful. My way of learning is multiple repetition so it takes me a while to get there but - about a year ago i made a professional commitment to basing my future work on Sketchup, I’m confident that it’s a good decision so i will continue to learn and improve.
