I’m suddenly having problems saving a model which I’ve been saving find for a week. I’m on the education web version (sketchup for schools), on a modern laptop, 32GB ram, latest version of chrome.
I’ve tried downloading the model, and that works and the model is only 270KB so not large at all.
It appears something is corrupt because when I try, for example, drawing a rectangle, it won’t complete and then I get an error “Sorry, it looks like we’re having some internal issues. Our team has been notified.”
So I’m blocked at this point. I can shut down the browser tab, reopen the model and all “appears” well but then same behaviour trying to modify and then save the model.
Is there some way to diagnose this? It seems like a waste of a week if I can’t recover this model, and without knowing why, it seems likely all models will end this way?
model opened in edge is realllllllly slow - tells me to clean up model but it is small so lead to my conclusion that something is corrupt from SU standpoint
model opened in firefox is able to save and does not exhibit the pooched behaviour of chrome where actions don’t work. This makes me question my conclusion that some component or group is corrupt.
Hey Dave, thanks for the help. Apologies for the lost week, I got the model open fine in firefox and continued on, but would prefer working in chrome so resolving this would be nice.
I’m more convinced this is a chrome issue (Edge does not do well with it either)
Yeah, I keep it pretty much uptodate. I immediately updated when I had the issues but I think I was no more than one patch release out…a couple of weeks at worst.
Version 137.0.7151.41 (Official Build) (64-bit)
I do carry some extensions on chrome because I’m a software developer but all was working well with those loaded, and then SU stopped working with that particular model without any new extensions.
Just updated again to Version 137.0.7151.56 (Official Build) (64-bit). I’ll try loading that model again.
Interesting, I can load that model and (first blush) it seems to be working fine. I have made some changes since last week but nothing which I would consider structural, like changes to nesting of components, tags, groups (which I thought might have been a culprit).
I did try the normal troubleshooting steps last week, clearing session storage, cache, shutdown etc.
I’ll go back to working in chrome and see if it continues to run cleanly. I have one other unrelated issue that came up, which I’ll post in another thread, which is the fact that I can’t see my models when I login with my Quest 3 SU viewer. The viewer seems to open it’s own cloud space, not the one tied to my edu.sketchup.com account, even though I login with my edu gmail account.
