Problem with applying texture, again

Hello,

Fairly new user here. I learnt sketchup through a course bought from Udemy, definitely lacking many explanation for many basic things so I’m struggling now with the most basic things that were not really explained in the course.

Sometimes I spend hours trying to troubleshoot the problem with youtube etc.

Please no judgement and rude answers without actually explaining what I’m missing (as it happened in previous topic with same name I created days ago)

Can someone please explain why this happens when I try to apply texture or image to the surface?

Currently applying texture to the wall under the shelf in the kitchen model, and the wall above changed colour as seen in the pic

A possible explanation to your question might be that the wall face under the shelf continues over the wall above too and there are two coplanar faces at the same place competing for attention. It is called z-fighting.
