Print my Drawing to Scale

I need to print the attached drawing to scale. It will be used as a template for laying out holes for a wind chime. I need a separate printout for the disk hanger and another one for the smaller hanger.
Chime Parts 6 Inch Disk.skp (178.8 KB)

I did some searching and found instructions that include setting the paper size and printer scele options. I can set the paper size, but the printer scale options are grayed out. I want them to be 1 to 1.

What am I doing wrong?

FWIW I’m running SU Make on Win 11 Pro. I DID search here but none of the hits were relevant, or I’m not smart enough to understand them. Some links in old posts are no longer valid, returning Page not Found errors.

Hello,
i’m not on my computer right now to check your file out but usually, in order to print in a specific scale you need :

  • To set the camera to parallel mode
  • To set the view to any of the preset views (top, front, back, left right…)

If every requirements are met it won’t be greyed out anymore

Thanks, Paul.

I set Camera to Parallel Projection with no change in results when choosing Print Preview. The scale option is still grayed out.

This is why the “full” versions of SketchUp includes LayOut … which provides the facility to generate 2D documentation.

Here is a 2-page PDF of your two SketchUp models … one page for each model.

240916A_Chime_Parts.pdf (435.7 KB)

Print each page “Full Scale” on 8 1/2" x 11" paper and you will have the 1:1 templates you want.

Thank you, Sir.

I’m a retiree who uses SU mostly as a hobby. I can’t afford to purchase the Pro version. I do, really, appreciate what you did for me.

I’m not sure if in SU Make you can do this but in the latest SU Pro 24 you can export a PDF at Full Scale then send it to your printer at actual size.

Just make an outline the size of your paper around all the line work.
Use orthogonal, Top View, and Zoom Extents to center.

Export → 2D → PDF → Options …
