Maybe it has been like this all along, but I cannot adjust the position of textures within a component. Is this intentional? The first image has the surface in a component, I then exploded the component and was able to change the position.
Either the texture isn’t applied to the face but is applied to the component container or the surface is made of multiple faces. If you’ve applied the texture to the faces inside the component, turn on Hidden Geometry and look for any hidden edges dividing the surface.

I believe you just applied textures to the whole component, from outside edition mode.
If you do that, you won’t have the texture> menu
Double click on the component to enter its context, then you can access individual faces and adjust the texture.
Use Dave’s idea about showing hidden geometry to make sure that the faces are not subdivided.
