PLEASE HELP! My skp file got corrupted i guess. whn i am opening it it shows "This does not appear to be a SketchUp model!"

BEDROOMS 03_ SHIG.zip (295.8 KB)

That file is filled with zeros, it’s completely empty.

Look for a file with the same name in the same folder, but that has a file extension of SKB instead of SKP. If you find that file, change its name and the extension, so that it ends with .skp. Try opening the file after you renamed it.

Thankyou for your response. I tried to rename the skb file to skp but its showing “failed to open document”

but here these selected file is showing sizes.

It’s all zeroes, though.

that means i have lost the file? :smiling_face_with_tear:

Yes, unfortunately.

Where were you saving the file while working on it?

In this same folder. ah! my badluck. Thanks anyway. :+1:

Where is that folder? On OneDrive? An external USB drive? An internal drive? Did you experience a power failure while you were working?

Your profile shows you are using SketchUp 2025 so you have a Pro or Studio subscription, right? That includes unlimited storage on Trimble Connect. You should save your files on an internal drive and also save a copy to Trimble Connect so you have backups available.

its an internal drive. yes my power cutoff during working on this file.

Others have wound up with corrupted files because of this. Saving frequently and also saving to your Trimble Connect storage would help to prevent a total loss of work in a case like this. If power interruptions are a common occurrence you should also invest in a UPS so your computer isn’t affected without warning. Then if the power does go out, immediately save and shut things down properly until the power comes on again.
