Hello! Could you please help me optimize this 3D model and reduce its file size? The model was originally imported from Blender and comes from the game House Flipper 2. It’s quite heavy, and I would like to make it more manageable for use in other projects without losing too much detail. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated!” Download Šola.skp | LimeWire
Do you own the rights to use the asset in your other projects?
Why not ask the folks who brought it into Blender to simplify for you?
yes they say they cant an i do
Ask them to provide a simplified model for you then.
Or learn about plugins you can use to simplify the model yourself.
i tried cleanup3 it worked to seme degree are there some other that you recommend
And just a note: this thread reads as dodgy as it gets.
Brand new forum user.
First post asks for help working with assets from a game.
Posts a Limewire link to the asset.
Claims to have rights to the asset, but cannot ask the owner to provide simpler geometry for working in SketchUp.
Maybe you are legit and being honest, but it seems sketchy.
This is not ‘beginner’ stuff.
Good luck.
oh sorry i extracted from game using ninjja ripper then ask them to reduce they did to seme degree stil to much and i have right to the assts am.using for my school work and i have a school license
So the game developer gave you permission to use the assets? If they are giving you permission why did you need to use Ninja Ripper? Couldn’t they give you the assets to use in your school project?
oh okay its okay am.gonna do myshelf so no problem.thx for time
If this is for a school assignment like you say, you are meant to do it yourself anyway, am I right?
yes i did in the game myshelf
Blender uses materials and textures as UV maps in Blender.
SketchUp assigns a rbg color code value or the images are wrapped in a svg wrapper
but still a rendered 2d image file type.
Think of SketchUp as painting on the color and graphics.
Think of Blender as decals or shaped window tint. A UV map is PLACED not painted.
Blender models with quads that can be polygons - SketchUp sees only native polygons and TomTom and others make quad tools — to manipulate the objects.
If you are smart use YOUR model and import into Blender - use a SketchUp warehouse close enough model if you have to.
Blenders render engine does what Twin Labs - V-ray and others do to give it LIFE
Peace
You are a little confused ![]()
I have heard that before … yes.
And bringing Blender models into SketchUp is a can of worms.
If you bring a SketchUp model or warehouse equal into Blender your workload is different
It is apples to oranges, but you can get better results going oranges to apples
And thanks …. my mom said that to me all my life also …..
It’s not smart to use 3D Waterhouse models even on sketchup, most of the models are overkill for assets, assets must be as low poly as possible, most of the models of the warehouse have a lot more geometry that the required to be an asset.
I guess you’re talking about Twinmotion. Anyways, I agree that cycles is a great rendering engine, but you must fix the models and add textures with all its maps to be recognized by cycles, it’s a long job, specially if the geometry of the element isn’t made out of quads, unwrapping that kind of geometry is a nightmare, it’s better to use V-Ray or Twinmotion if you made a model on sketchup, chaos cosmos has hundreds of great textures and assets as well. Twinmotion has also a vast Library of materials and assets ready to render. I use V-Ray for still images rendering and TM for virtual tours video rendering cause doing videos with vray could take days and you don’t have a precise control of the camera, Twinmotion gives you better camera control, using lumen and nanite can create video rendering in few minutes. Enscape is also a pretty decent engine, but imo Twinmotion delivers better results.
Using Blender cycles or Eevee is a good option if you have used blender for modeling and texturizing entirely on blender, cause it’s a different workflow, there are also addons for blender where you can find textures, assets, and even HDRIs like blender kit it’s like the SketchUp warehouse but for blender ready usage, there are free and paid models.
using what was offered that the model was first
The model was originally imported from Blender
it was always easier to go from SketchUp to Blender and not the other way.
and yes, how they both see materials and textures are different.
Blender is a UV map and SketchUp paints on pixels. Then while you are in Layout a svg wrapper is applied to the image to edit. Then saves it to a jpg or png when you want to export it.
Please stop spreading monumental b.s. ![]()
sketchup uses UV maps as well, they’re just defaulted to the origin and a set size. right clicking on a face, selecting “texture / position” allows you to change that UV. other plugins give you more access and control over it.
really, I’m curious, where did you get this idea from ?
