Photoshop Problem

Hi All.

I know this is not a SketchUp problem but I’m sure some of you can help me.

When I import a PNG into a Photoshop file there is a white opaque background. I need this to be transparent.

I have attached an image to show you.

Hopefully, you can help. I appreciate any help you can provide.

Photoshop automatically uses the alpha channel of a PNG file as transparency. The white background in your image has transparency but it must be semi-transparent.

So, the question is how was the PNG made and what app made it? You imply that it was not made by Sketchup when you say this is not a Sketchup problem.

If it is just a white background use the eyedropper selection. Select the background, press delete.

If you want more control you can create a layer mask and isolate that way.

Lots of tutorials if you search.

If I export a PNG from SketchUp, and in the options I choose to have it be transparent, the image does show transparency in Photoshop.

Can you show the PNG you are using?

Thanks for all your replies.

I saved the image as a pdf , then deleted the white background and this worked.

I have no idea why! :grimacing:
