I can go weeks at a time without quitting sketchup. I usually only do so if it seems to get glitchy.
So, it’s been open for a week or so, dozen open models I’m working on. One has 3 section planes in it that have been there for a long time, one each in x,y,&z that I move around as necessary.
I am now unable to click to select a section plane. This just started happening. I can select one with a crossing window, but a subsequent right click, which should bring up a context menu that would include erase or hide, just deselects the plane.
I can get rid of it by selecting it with the crossing plane and then hitting the delete key, but this is odd. If I bring a new section plane into the model, I AM able to select this. But, if I quit sketchup, upon reopening the section plane cannot be selected except as noted above.
I thought it might have been due to an old version of SectionCutFace being installed, but uninstalling didn’t correct the issue.
Not being able to figure this out, I reinstalled Sketchup. I trashed the previous Sketchup app folder, and the folder in Application Support (Mac), but may have missed others relevant system files.
With a fresh installation, the very same behavior occurs. No plugins other native SU ones.
I brought in a 2nd section plane. It is selectable. The original section is now selectable too.
Quit the program and reopen - both now cannot be selected other than crossing window.
I have encountered at least one bug in the past, where if SketchUp and/or macOS, have not been restarted in something like 30 days, a problem can show up. Can’t remember if it was to do with section planes, I will look for it later.
