Objects not sticking

Any thoughts? Sometimes cabinets and objects do not stick where they should. When I move them, they don’t move in the correct direction and will not attach to other grouped objects. Even after I restart my computer.

Hard to say without seeing your SketchUp file. Please share it.

What cabinets and objects are you using? Maybe they don’t have any gluing properties?

Hey Dave! Remind me how to share my Sketchup file? Currently I am using the extension, Sketch This for cabinets. I emailed them and asked the same question. Typically the cabinets do glue easily. But occasionally it stops gluing.

Drag and drop the .skp file into a reply. Or if it’s too large to upload directly, upload it to Drop Box and share the link.

This is important information.

I will also give you another link if you can’t open this one.

Share the .skp file, not a .dxf.

I uploaded another file. Are you able to open it?

Yes. I was looking at your file. I see you’ve dropped a cabinet on the top corner of the refrigerator. Is that what you are having trouble with? Once the component is placed there you can’t move it back against the wall without removing the gluing. But you could drag a new instance in from the Components panel and put it on the wall.

FWIW, I looked at tag usage and fixed the incorrect usage.

I also purged unused stuff from your file reducing the file size by more than 74%.

Great! Okay, I will study your tips, thank you Dave!

how did you fix the tag usage and purge?

I used a plugin from TIG at Sketchucation called Default Layer Geometry to fix the incorrect tag usage. Then I used his Purge All to purge the unused stuff. You can purge unused from Model Info>Statistics but I used the plugin because it gives the clear report.

I dragged the new instance and it does go onto the wall, but it does not move forward or glue. Do I need to fix the tag usage and purge to help the model work better?

Bring in a new instance of the component from the Components panel.

I just figured it out with the extension video. thank you!
