Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone else is having this issue:
When I am using V-Ray for SketchUp, everything seems fine and normal until I start a render. For example, when using the interactive render, everything looks as it should, but when I start a progressive render, strange and random objects/shapes appear in the render. The shapes are not something I have created, they are not visible in SketchUp, and the shapes change every time I start a new render. Please see the images attached showing my SketchUp model and the renders it wants to produce. Weirdly, the bucket render mode seems to work fine (for now).
I had this problem back in February 2025, and I ended up uninstalling V-Ray and downgrading to an older version - I reached out to Chaos support and they are aware of the bug. Since then, I have updated both my SketchUp and V-Ray to the latest versions and everything seems to be fine - until now.
I am using a 2023 Mac Studio (M2 Max), SketchUp version 25.0.659, and V-Ray 7.10.01.
I added a section cut across the model just inside the wall where the camera is placed for the scene. Now I’m not seeing any weird objects in the render.
Hmmm very strange, the same thing happened back in feb (with a different model) so it seems to be an issue with my computer possibly! Ill reach back out to Chaos support - thank you for looking everyone!
The file we got will be missing various textures and bits and pieces, so it could be an Apple specific bug or it could be because we aren’t looking at the exact same thing.
I had a look at the conversation from Feb, and the support team suggested it could be a scene related issue, and most likely due to V-Ray fur. I will contact them again and see if this a reoccurring issue (as I do have vray fur in my model).
One thing I did observe is that you are using a two point perspective and when I toggle that to perspective and back again, it doesn’t match in quite the same way - something is getting reset.
It could be that there is something that is bugged with that scene as they say - do the same toggle and update the scene (or create another) and see if it still has those artifacts.
That might also explain why it crashes if I disable safe frame without having moved the camera first.
