Hi all!
I was used to use the hidden line style combined with the color by tags mode for all my plans and section views, but it seems that they’ve taken this option out…! The only way to have the color by tags material to be displayed seems to chose the shaded texture mode or the photoreal materials.
Can anyone confirm???
Was it intentional?
can you check if in your style panel, in the edit section of your current style, you have line colour by material ?
because I have almost no issue using colour by tag + hidden line style, almost because by default, using the quick styles (the cubes in the toolbar) doesn’t activate line colour by material. you have to do it manually in the style panel
The issue isn’t edges, it’s faces. Previously you could use hidden line, and have materials still visible on faces set to a given tag. Here’s a screenshot showing 2024 and 2025 with the same model:
The problem is being worked on, with a possible fix that I will test soon. Hopefully the next update from us will have it fixed.
Thanks Colin. We’ll have to stay on the 2024 for the time being then… I am pretty sure a whole lot of people will too.
Can you give me some kind of timeframe for the update that should fix it?
A bit of a shame to release a product with that big a bug to be honest.
Most likely not…
As we know from the past, SketchUp employees are not allowed to publicly discuss timelines and company roadmaps.
There will always be bugs in new software versions as it is nearly impossible to detect them all during testing. The more because some bugs are only seen in specific software/hardware setups…
The fix we have done seems to work. At the moment I don’t happen to know when the next update will be ready, or if this fix can go into the update at this point, or wait for the following update. But I will be pushing for it to be included as soon as possible.
If I did know a date, I wouldn’t be able to say what it is.
