If you need new hatches in the .pat format, fx for none symmetrical wooden posts, I can recommend https://www.pattycake.io/

I use the free version for simple hatches and it works fine so far. Its seems like you quite easily can make more advanced hatches with the paid version.

Do .pat files import as geometry with skalp like dwgs do?

I don’t think so but never used them that way. Only used them with Skalp4Sketchup as a pattern.
