Need help with my first live component

Hello! I tried now a few times to learn trimble creator myself, but had quite a hard time to learn how it works. I created a parametric kitchen front and have now some questions to it. You will find my model in trimble creator named: lucka2 (from Andreas L.)

  1. Question: how can i give the parts components attributens to export later on in sketchup reports with the length of the different parts

  2. Question: As you see in my screenshot, the 3d boolean does not clip all of the overlapping part, do you know why?

  3. Question. i want to extrude the mirror (wood plate/rectangle) to online one directions like the frame but could not figure out how.

It would be nice if someone could give me some advice on this questions. Thanks a lot.
    Best regards - Andreas

Hey @Lippinator

Great to see you playing around with Creator, I’d be super interested to see what parts you are finding difficult to get your head around, so we can see what we can do to improve things!

As to your questions:

  1. At the moment, attributes do not bubble up to SketchUp, unfortunately - it is something on the roadmap though!
  2. 3D Booleans can sometimes be a bit finicky when it comes to cutting surfaces that are overlapping (i.e., “coplanar”). The best way to remedy this is to just increase the cutting geometry, like I’ve done in this example.
  3. I’m not too sure what you mean by this question, sorry. Do you mean you want to get the inner panel to align with the middle of the frame?

Hello and thanks for the feedback!

great tip to have the transform note to increase the cutting geometry.

Sorry, i was unclear with my 3. question regarding the panel. Now when i add a rectangle note and change the length, its stretch the rectangle to both sides. To be able to have the panel in the middle of the frame i think i need to stretch just in one axis along the red axis.
I believe every mesh has a zero point/pivot from which you can drag in a direction, and also move the mesh, but I haven’t figured out how yet.

Ah! I see what you mean!

Here I would use the “align” node. This node takes one geometry and aligns it to the bounds of another (see this example here). In the example, I use one of the frame members you have and align it to that.

This node, on first look, can be a bit convoluted, so for a bit more info, you can check the documentation here.

Thanks a lot for your help. Now i get a push to learn more and get better for trimble creator. I also looking forward to see some updates in trimble creator like the global notes and attributes up to Sketchup.

Warm regards

Andreas
