I’ve tried to change the unit snap length from 1 meter to 0,5 meter, but by mistake i’ve entered 0.5 meter.
Now i am stuck in a loop to the error message when i try a different command, and can not get back to the window to change this length.
Not sure when was the last autosave, so i do not dare close the program using the taskmanager.
Can anyone give advise how to exit this loop so i can change the length the right way (as shown in the sample below)?
There a very few circumstances where you would set length-snapping at all.
For a long time we’ve been pressing for all shipped templates to NOT have it activated.
So it would be a good idea to NOT have it set.
Why would you want it set like this - it is not a ‘grid-snapping’ option, and is likely to cause inaccuracies in your modeling.
I do like, and always use, the snapping option to get round numbers
Like I preffer 1 meter over 1,000132 meter, or 1mm over 0,999996 mm
Unfortunately with all the programs i have running, one need a ‘,’ and the next a ‘.’ for decimals, so oops, i used the wrong one this time and got stuck (first time since '99? ).
Anywho, i’ll take a break for a few minutes and hope to find a sollution here or there. Else its CtrlAltDel and hope for the best!
If you type 1m you get 1m, if you type 1mm you get 1mm, there is never a need to ‘guess’ the length of something you are drawing and hope that SketchUp ‘grid-snaps’ to it. Using length-snap is not guaranteed to always snap to that length. Typing the required length [or using a correctly placed guideline] is the better method, and it always works…
It would indeed be better if the symbol would change automatically to the correct sumbol, or the unit window would stay open after the error message so that one can correct it themselves.
Anyhoe, be warned this can happen in de windows version SUP22 and the only solution thusfar would be to close the program and reopen the (backup) file
In Windows, for those who accidentally end up making that unnecessary setting, they can easily break that loop of error messages by just typing . (dot), like Mr Lemire said for Mac.
