More paper space?

Hello,

I know i am dense when it comes to how some programs work. But please help me understand the obsession with layout and paper space.

I attached file " 2 paper space" When i measure, everything will measure model space except from the septic to the well?

Same file, same objects… what am i doing wrong?
2 paper space.layout (3.8 MB)

Some of your dimensions are anchored to the model, some of them are anchored to objects you’ve drawn on the paper, thus paper space dimensions. If you were using the current version of SketchUp and LayOut you could have added the well and other objects you drew in LayOut as a scaled drawing using the same scale you set for the viewport. Then all of your dimensions will auto scale.

Alternatively you could have added the well and other things in the Sketchup model. Then all the dimensions can use auto scale.

What do you mean by obsession? LayOut is specifically for creating documents on paper. It’s also designed primarily to work with SketchUp models and the dimensions normally are taken off the model. Entities that you have drawn in LayOut have no real world dimensions and are not linked to the SketchUp model so any dimensions you add must be paper space notmodel space dimensions.

BTW, I notice you haven’t established any scenes in your SketchUp file to use for your viewports in LayOut. This will create problems for you when you go back to the SketchUp model to make changes.
