Model info - Statistics open = Noticeable slow down

I think I wrote about that but could not find that thread now… so it is possible that I have only intended to write it.
When I work in quite a big model with Model info → Statistics tab open it slows down noticeably time to accomplish any task like drawing a line, erasing, moving, scaling… I guess that’s expected since the statistics are updated, there is an extra time to refresh the tab informations and display it. But it persists for me even after closing the Model Info window. It stops only after I change the tab for Text, Units or any other than Statistics. Simply closing Model Info window with Statistics tab selected will keep on slowing down workflow…
Similar with Components and Outliner dialogs in Trays. They do slow down when open (thats expected) but it looks like closing tray with dialog open is not an issue. So just do not forget to minimize those dialogs when not needed…

I will try some tests in the morning.

I didn’t yet see any slowdown, even with large files. Do you have an example model where you can notice a difference if Model Info, Statistics is showing?

Sorry for not replaying… bin busy… will send some file… this week…

Sorry … I tried to reproduce the problem in knew file… but I can not see there as well a difference between statistics open and not… Maybe it is some additional trouble… if I notice it again I will send the file…

For what it’s worth, the Outliner window is “well known” for causing slowdowns during editing operations, especially in older versions such as 2016. Might you have the Outliner window open during the periods of perceived slowdown?

Outliner definitely I close as soon as not needed any more… and it does the trouble when You do something with groups and comps… editing geometry it self is not an issue there… but I remember since I changed to 2019 I thought this issue with statistics was resolved… it was much more noticeable for me on 2016. For 2019 it was so much better that with time I forgot to change the “statistics” tab for “text” before closing the “Model Info” window… And few weeks ago a colleague asked me about some issue with sK and I noticed that problem on his PC… No time then to either check it properly or think about saving a copy of file somewhere… well Maybe it really is a solved issue… anyways very rarely occurring…

Well I just had that slow down but it was with plugin involved not with sKetchup native tool… I was using a Tools on Surface > Offset. Not a big file… inside of a group. Info shows about 1400 entities in it… without statistics open takes about 1s, with statistics open 19s during which both statistics window and ‘Offset on Surface’ cursor are glitching.
So I don’t know which one is causing the slow down. Is it sKetchup calling for refresh or is it te plugin.

What if you check the “Show nested components” box. Previously you said your file was big.

You are using the 2016 version. Are you running the 32-bit version instead of 64-bit? Is SketchUp using your Nvidia graphics card?

different file… I am on SK 2022. is my info not updated? do You want to see the file … 1400 was only inside of the group that I was working in…
I tried now with newly installed 2023 and still there is a slow down … statistics window is not glitching though… cursor still does…
slow dwon.skp (6.2 MB)
I was offsetting the road … the only surface with texture applied…
EDIT
I noticed now that JHS Powerbar - Composwaper works noticeably slower with statistics open too… I don’t think people who do the plugins purposely refresh statistics. It is rather some observer call? maybe those could be skipped until some code which is enclosed in one undo operation is finalised.
EDIT
1001 bit - Slope Edges … as well
