I have the attached part of a drawing. I am trying to work out the the area of each of the shapes, but the faces will not create. I can’t see any missing lines.
Could anybody please help me create the faces to find the area m2?
You need to understand that sketchup is a 3d environment and learn to place your lines correctly.
As you see here. since you are working in Parallel Projection lines and arc that you think are flat are all over the place.
Work in Perspective and make sure you read the tool tips for ‘on face’ etc so that you create a flat plane of 2d shapes.
Thank you, you’re totally right. I am only just starting to use it, so more regularly, so forgive my basic errors. I can see what you’re saying from your video, although even when I go into perspective, it still gives these crazy arcs. Thank you.
Changing the camera after the event won’t change the geometry.
My point was that you should be working in perspective and moving around so you can see what is flat and not create the arcs in mid air. Parallel Projection is really designed as a tool for getting ‘2d images’ from a 3d model. It is only a camera trick, not a geometry orientation option.
Once again, sketchup is always a 3d environment, it is up to you to make sure you are creating your geometry on the plane that you want it to be on.
