Missed Shadows

Hello everybody

I designed a spaceship and I enabled the shadows.
But some shadows missed. There is no projected shadows on model. Some capsuled parts receive light.
Why ? There is a setting I missed ?

Thanks for your advices and help.

Very hard to tell from your extremely dark screen shot. Share the SketchUp model file so we can see what you’ve got set up.

What version of SketchUp are you using? Is it still 2016 Make as in your profile?

Sketchup Pro 2022
I didn’t change my profile informations since my inscription. Thanks for this notice.

As you can see on the photo the left block don’t project a shadow on the right block. And the grey cylinders which are inserted in the left block shine as if they are under sunlight.
It seems as if each block or group is submitted by sunlight individually.

I can’t share my SKP file because is too big (85 mo; the model is 200m long).

Upload it to DropBox and share the link.

You model is largely below the ground plane (red/green plane) so that’s going to be a problem.

You also have objects set to not cast and/or receive shadows. Select them and note the state of the shadow buttons in Entity Info.

In some cases even surfaces have been set to not cast or receive shadows. You’ll need to really dig into your model.

You probably don’t want shadows on the ground plane so I would untick the box for On Ground in the Shadows panel. And then set the objects so they will cast and receive shadows. Since you have some deep nesting you’ll need to drill down and check all of the groups and components to see if they need to be corrected.

Also you should fix the reversed faces. There should be no exposed blue back faces in your model.

Thanks for all these advices.
Everything works correctly now.

Now I have to resolve my animation problem that cuts objets.
