I’d appreciate reassurance that I’m not going mad! I’ve been using SketchUp for years and am a pretty accomplished novice.
I’ve been trying to start a new model with a simple square.
I drag to the rough size on the plane I want.
I type the directions I want (separated by a comma). The desired dimensions are shown in the measurements box.
I hit ENTER and release the mouse button.
The rectangle is drawn where I left the pointer i.e. not to the dimensions I typed.
So then I tried using the Tape Measure to draw guides. I get exactly the same result. I cleared my cache, restarted my machine, used a different browser, used a different machine, opened old (saved) models. Same result.
This is such a natural way of working for me I can’t believe it is user error…
This is one of the models (haven’t been able to draw anything useful yet!) SketchUp
Download the file to your computer and share the .skp file here. The link you provided only allows us to view your model but not actually work with it.
@bmike One other thing. The keyboard shortcuts I used to use with the desktop version of SketchUp don’t seem to work with the Web version. I tried exactly as you said. Hitting enter just draws it where I left the mouse
Yes.
I actually just fired up an old laptop with Make 2017 on it and that still works fine. This is feeling like what we used to call an undocumented feature…
separating with a comma works in anglo-saxon countries, they us a decimal dot and a comma to separate.
the rest of us (most of us) use a decimal comma and a semicolon ( ; ) to separate.
in that case, trying to make a rectangle using a comma would make a rectangle with only one dimension, resulting in a… weird result.
