Materials windows has gone crazy (Mac)

Searching for a material in the Materials Window I realized it lists much more than the folders housed in the Materials Folder. It seems that all my preference files for other programs are now listed there.

I have had this problem years ago but do not remember how it was solved.

I am on Mac OS Ventura (13.6.4), Sketchup version is 24.0.483.
