Materials editing not working

Hi, I checked the internet, but nobody seemed to have the exact problem that I have. On my M1 mac I’m trying to edit the materials, the problem is when I’m doing any changes nothing works. Opacity, scale, after clicking nothing happens. I just tried to change the name of the material and the whole app just shutdown. What could be the problem?

Are you editing ‘in model’ or in materials.

Test this: draw rectangle, paint it with a material.

Go to the materials pallet. Make sure you are ‘In Model’ - you should see the material you just painted there.

Try to edit this one, that is ‘In Model’.

And what version of macOS?

You could update to 2024.0.1, which you can get by doing a Check for Update from the SketchUp menu. One of the fixes is this one:

  • (Mac) Fixed an issue where SketchUp crashes when attempting to edit material from any library other than “In model”.

The work around in the update is that if you attempt to edit a material that is not in the In Model set, you’re given a warning about that. You should be able to rename the material ok if it’s in the In Model set.

That’s how it’s looking, where do I have the “In Model” option?
macOS Sonoma 14.6

Press the brick. Then make sure you are in model.

Can’t see where is that option

Press the little house.

There is a misleading part to that error message. You may well have already applied the material to the model, the error really means that you need to edit it from the Colors in Model set, and not from the original collection.
