Making templates using cutlist extension for a gingerbread re-creation

Please point me in the right direction - I’m new to anything SketchUp and thank you in advance for your patience with any misunderstandings. I’m fairly good with any software, but having a few challenges here. Not an architect either, so subject-matter challenged as well.

From what I have researched, I ‘think’ I have the process right in that with SketchUp and the right extension, I can take a file for a building and ‘export’ all the panels/sides of the building as individual image files (jpgs) so I can print them out. Then I would be able to cut out each piece/panel to use as a template to create the building in gingerbread (which is the ultimate goal of what I need from SketchUp). If that is the wrong process, please correct.

I have a file from 3-D Warehouse for the building I’d like to work with. I also have SketchUp Pro, and the Cut List extension.

Unfortunately, when I open SketchUp, it is black so my graphics engine isn’t right or I don’t have enough RAM or something. Anyway, I can’t test anything.

I’ve read on other posts that I should “Either change the graphics engine in 2024 to the classic one, or keep the new graphics engine and change the antialiasing to 0x.” to fix my issue. That sounds simple in theory but . . .

Rather than spend too much time trying to learn the software (quickly) or fix my computer, I’m wondering if there are users here who can be hired for this task (and/or tell me if I have the process totally wrong).

Many thanks for any assistance.

You would generally make the model in SketchUp and then create the 2d plans in LayOut.

I’m sure there are people here who you could hire…

Share the SketchUp file with the thing you got from the Warehouse. Maybe it just needs a little adjustment.

The CutList extension will not create a pattern for making the thing. It will only give the overall dimensions of the object.

BTW, please correct your forum profile. You aren’t using SketchUp for Schools. That’s a web based version for young school children.
