I am a professional SketchUp user working on macOS, and I want to report a significant usability issue with the Materials (Colors) panel.
In the current Mac version of SketchUp, the Materials browser only displays materials as large thumbnail icons (grid view). There is no available option to switch to a list view.
This creates several problems:
-
It is difficult to quickly scan and identify materials by name
-
It slows down workflows when working with large material sets
-
It reduces efficiency compared to previous workflows and the Windows version
On Windows, users still have the ability to toggle between thumbnail view and list view. This inconsistency between platforms is problematic, especially for teams working across both environments.
This appears to be either:
-
A removed feature (regression), or
-
A missing parity feature on macOS
Request:
Please add the ability to toggle between:
-
Thumbnail (grid) view
-
List (text-based) view
This should ideally include:
-
Sortable columns (name, size, etc.)
-
Compact list display for faster navigation
This change would significantly improve usability and bring consistency between Mac and Windows versions of SketchUp.
