Loss of Snapping control

Why would a model loose snapping control? I copy a group of components ( a drawer assembly) in order to start to nest together to calculate material quantity. While manipulating the items snapping does not work as expected i.e. snaps to some point as normal but completely ignores other snap points? I’m attaching the model..so try moving the blue component to see what I mean (if it replicates)

Many thanks for any help here.

Right click on a component > Unglue
Also, apply ‘Scale Definition’.

Thank you so much. Not sure why it was glued in the first place. An accidental click of the mouse maybe!

Several of your components are glued.

If you create a component on an ungrouped/uncomponented face, that component will automatically be given gluing properties. Maybe that’s what happened in your model?

Components will by default be created with gluing if they have neighboring loose faces that are not included in the component.

I see where the gluing came in. The drawer bottom is loose geometry within the drawer group.

Also note there’s no bottom faces on the dividers.

So you drew the drawer bottom but forgot to make it a component before you started on the dividers.

That’s genius Dave. Thanks you.

You’re quire welcome.

Do take heed of the advice to scale the definitions.

Not sure what ‘scale definitions’ does but have done it anyway.
