Login Problems : “Are you in the right place” Loop

That’s a new error for me. A 400 error is different from the other type of errors in the thread so digging into this may take a while. I’ll see if I can get someone to take a look as soon as I can although it may take a while to get this one figured out.

Additionally, we should confirm that you are allowed to use SketchUp for Schools. It is intended for k-12 schools only. I bring this up as the domain you linked leads to what looks like a higher education school. Can you confirm that you are a k-12 school?

@CaseyG We are having a similar problem with the endless loop of not being able to log in. I am a super admin and believe I have done everything correctly. We are K-12 institution. Our domain is susquenita.org. Can you help?

Hi cmatash thanks for the post, as I have already replied to you via private message and added your domain to our database, you should be all set to go. I am just replying to this thread for the record in case someone in the future sees this.

I have added you to the database so you should be all set to go. In case future users are wondering what is needed to get added to the database, all you need to share is any domain(s) that you want us to add, share a website link if you have one and verify that you are a k-12 school, district or equivalent.

Once we have all of that we can add you to the database. If you are experiencing a different error or problem with SketchUp for Schools, please start a new thread rather than replying to this thread as the resolution is likely going to be different than this one.

@CaseyG, do you have any insight into the status of Sketchup for Schools in New York City schools? I know that Sketchup used to be available in NYC schools, but after a security breach a few years ago (not related to Sketchup), all 3rd party vendors/products are now required to go through a compliance process. It looks like Sketchup for Schools is not currently an approved vendor/product and my school is requesting that it be approved. But, with 1 million students and 75,000 teachers, I would think Trimble/Sketchup would be motivated to get it approved. Do you know if anything is in process?

@CaseyG We have some students trying to use this, and have allowed in our G Suite, as well as Microsoft. But it still loops back and never goes though.

Hi @IntroArch and @zdbrazel100. Thanks for the posts. I’ll address both of you in this post so just look for your username for the part relevant to you.

First up is IntroArch’s question. I personally do not have the authority to do that but I am happy to talk to Tori to see if we can find a solution for you. We can’t fill out everything that comes our way as the volume of requests and complexity of many of them makes that impossible for our legal team to handle but I can promise I will do my best to get you up and running again with SketchUp for Schools. Of course to do this we will need to know what all is required of us and as this thread is for something else I’ll break this conversation off to private messages so just wait a few minutes for that to arrive in your forum inbox.

As for you zdbrazel100, I am happy to see if it is a firewall issue on our end and can get you added to our database of approved domains to see if that helps at all, but I will need the info I mentioned in my post back on August 14th to get you added. Can you share that with me so I can add you to our database?

Oh, wow I just reviewed your post I must have overlooked that ONLY K-12 part. We are a Community College so that won’t be acceptable for this use. Thank you for the reply and help.

No problem zdbrazel100. It happens fairly often. If you are a community college, your students should be able to use our free online version for their classes as it has many of the same features of SketchUp for Schools. If they end up needing a license for the Pro version we offer great discounts on licenses for that via our reseller partners. I personally find that once students start doing college level work, the extra tools in the pro version (like extensions) come in quite handy for many of them. You can find your local reseller partners here:

@CaseyG Hi Casey. We are experiencing the same issue that students getting " Are you in the right place” Loop.

Domain: bis-school.com
Website: www.bis-school.com

Please can this be added to Whitelist?

Thanks

@CaseyG please ignore the above request.
We found out that the issue was happening because Google Classroom service was disabled for the student OU group.

is there away for Sketchup with google sign in to work without Google Classroom service?

We are having the same issue when our faculty and students try to log in with Google.

Domain: maryvale.com
Website: www.maryvale.com

Can we please be added to the approved K-12 domain list?

Hi @myusuf and @andrewh, thanks for the posts. I’ll get both of your questions answered in a single post so just look for your username for the part most relevant to you.

First up I’ll address you myusuf. That is a great question. I do not believe that we can do that but I’ll ask around to get confirmation one way or another. Hopefully I will get a answer one way or another shortly.

As for you andrewh I just finished getting you added to our database and you should be all set to go! Just make sure that you don’t skip any steps as you deploy the app as that will cause issues later on.

9/5/2024 Update
I was wrong, Google Classroom can be bypassed but I’ll need to adjust some settings on our end. I think I got it set up for you correctly but I can’t be sure until you let me know one way or another if it is working. Can you please let me know if you can log in now @myusuf ?

We also don’t use Google Classroom and I’d like it to be bypassed for Maryvale, please.

@CaseyG The log in works now with or without Google Classroom.
Thanks.

Gad to hear you are up and running @myusuf. I hope you and your students enjoy using SketchUp for projects as much as I do!

As for you @andrewh I will make the adjustments to your database entry to allow for that and by the time this post is up you should be all set to go. If you are still getting the “Are you in the right place?” message, let me know and we can start troubleshooting.

Hello. We’re also seeing the same problem – the log in loop. We’ve added the app in Google Workspace admin, and our users grant permissions, but we’re still getting the error.
