Login Bug Splat

Sometimes when I open SketchUp it goes straight to Bug Splat. Then I open it up again and it says I need to login. Then it goes to Google Chrome where I log in to the SketchUp website. Then I have to reopen the model. I just put up with it, but my boss has the same issue and gets super frustrated with it and vocalizes his frustration and threatens to ditch SketchUp. This is frightening to me. I know that SketchUp needs to verify your subscription about once a month, but since my boss only opens it occasionally, he perceives this as happening every time. Isn’t there any way to make this process less onerous? Like maybe not start it off with a Bug Splat? And maybe not redirect you to your browser? Just do it all right there when you open SketchUp?

Are you still using SketchUp 2020 as your profile shows?

Are you sending in the Bug Splat reports with something to identify they came from you?

I am using SketchUp 2025 with the latest update but this also happened in 2024. I do report bug splats the first few times, but then I stop, because at a certain point you have to wonder if they are doing it on purpose.

Please update your forum profile. Are you still using the old GPU listed in your profile?

They aren’t doing it on purpose.

Was SketchUp installed correctly? That requires right clicking on the downloaded installer and selecting Run as administrator.

Are the graphics drivers up to date? The most common reasons for Bug Splats on startup are incorrect installation and graphics driver issues.

If you don’t send in the Bug Splat reports so they can be linked to you, the developers have no chance to iidentify why they are happening. If you are including your name and email address it might be that @colin can look them up and tell what the cause is.

I did find your bugsplat report. It seems quite a few people are having the same problem you are. I have asked the developers if there is a known issue going on.

Thank you! It would be so great if they could streamline the mandatory monthly login process.

The monthly re-login gives me a bugsplat too and works only at the second go.

Some good news, I was able to make the problem happen, and gave the developers steps to see where the crash occurs. It’s late in the day for the lead developer, but I imagine he will see my message early in his morning.
