Licensing issue - duplicate accounts?

Our company uses SU Pro, annual subscription, and has 3 seats, all occupied. One of our users also has a separate individual pro account that is no longer needed. We have been unable to find a way to discontinue the individual account. The main problem with this today is that the user is unable to log in to use SU. (We are not in the same office or state). The user gets a message about “exceeded number of authorizations for license” (paraphrased as I have not seen the actual message.) The user is authorized and has a seat assigned in the company account. How do I direct trimble to use this account? Both the group and individual use the same email address.

it’s probably just an issue of someone login in a new machine somewhere.
whenever you log in, it creates an authorisation token valid for a month.
if you log in somewhere else after that, the servers think that a machine is already using the licence for up to a month.

you can deauthorise everyone yourself (or anyone with admin power over the trimble account). then everyone will need to log out / log back in, but it should be fine.

that is… a separate issue I’d say. have you contacted support on this ? they might be able to help you.

Not knowing more about the situation, I’d say they need to log into their other personal account, and stop the automatic renewal of their plan. If they open a ticket with support they probably can do it for them.
(if they got it through a reseller, they might also be able to help)

This user uses a laptop and separate PC (both are MAC). Would this potentially perpetuate this issue? Only one is used at a time, but working from home vs working from the office, both machines are regularly active.

The too many authorizations can happen to a single user who has signed in on three copies of SketchUp. That can include three different computers, or even only one computer and three versions of SketchUp. What ateliernab talked about should solve that problem.

For the other issue, if you’re talking about the Pro subscription assigned to Lee, you can’t turn that off, you can only set it not to renew. It’s currently set to not renew, and will stop working in about three weeks.

Easiest option would be to not assign any of your company subscriptions to Lee, until his separate one stops working.

yeah, it could. in theory you can use a single seat on two sketchup entities.
that means two machines. or two version on a single machine.
but it’s not always as smooth as the theory says ^^
I’ve had situation when I had to log in/out a couple of times even though I only use my licence on 2 entities…

if the video above doesn’t solve it, he can also delete the login files (the auth tokens)
paths are presented here

(this is SU22 but it works with other versions)

that’s good news then. and a solution indeed if the rest fails

Thanks for the help, guys. I’ll have him de-authorize and re-login on his personal account, and I have removed his access to products on the company account for now. I’ll update later this afternoon as he is out of the office for now.

The deauthorize option is only available via ‘My Products> View included apps, therefore can only be done by the individual users and not by the company admin…

good to know. I wasn’t sure, as I’ve never really seen a company account

I was able to deauthorize all users’ devices as the company admin/account owner for our assigned users. I’ll be sure to let him know to check for “My products” on his individual account. Thanks for the tip.
