I’m a newish to Sketchup and was having some success with Sketchup 2025 and Layout, but rather suddenly Layout stopped even opening, whether I tried importing into LO or opening it on its own. When I try to open LO the icon bounces once and then disappears. I have reinstalled several times and I have sent in loads of reports.
Reading similar posts, I have lots of models on OneDrive but this was never an issue. It was possibly a little model on my desktop that seems to have triggered this, with an IKEA furniture model I got from the Warehouse at about the same time the trouble started. I deleted the model but LO is still not opening. I purged a whole lot of imported assets and models I don’t need, but that still didn’t make a difference.
I have a MacBook Air 2020 model Z125000DNLL/A with an Apple M1 chip. I have Sequoia 15.7 installed (I am waiting to install Tahoe after they work out the bugs.)
I guess I can create the equivalent documents in InDesign but I was so looking forward to the promise of this application! It was working just fine before. Thanks for any insight!
Share the SU and LO files so we can see if it’s specific to one or the other.
Working on files directly saved to One Drive or other cloud locations has been shown to be a problem for many users. If you haven’t had any issues so far that’s good but know that it’s risky.
Some users have found that deleting the Login_session.dat file and restarting the computer have helped. Look in ~/Library/Application Support/SketchUp 2025/
I rather hastily deleted the files in question, I’m afraid, so I can’t share those. I am not seeing a Sketchup folder at all in Application Support. (Sorry I’m such a tech doofus- I’ve been using Apple computers since the Apple 2E, but my favorite thing about Apple is that I rarely had to know how the things works!)
Not from the image I posted but from a session a couple months back. I had a crash in LO, then re-opened and it wouldn’t start (just bounced and disappeared). On a hunch I deleted where the recovery files get saved… and it opened straight away.
What bmike said makes sense. There may be an auto saved document that has problems, and when the welcome screen tries to show the thumbnail, LayOut crashes.
Before you delete them, you could upload the folders somewhere, and we can try to see if they give us problems.
