Ever since I downloaded layout/sketchup 2026- layout has been doing a new weird thing where it takes 3-5 minutes for my updated model reference to become clickable. I will get the yellow exclamation mark indicating it is updating, and then the whole window will not be clickable for way too long. My old layout 2025 did not do this, so I’m wondering if anyone can help troubleshoot the issue or if this is just a bug?
Here’s the link to zip file with both skp and layout file
Estou tendo o mesmo problema!!! O programa está completamente inutilizável, 5 minutos está sendo pouco, em alguns modelos passa de 15 minutos de espera
It’s possible that there is something in LO 2026 that creates the problem (which you otherwise say you don’t see in LO 2025), but overall, the file is way too large for how much it could/should be optimized.
The construction itself (walls) has only 2300 entities (lines, faces), the rest up to 6.1 million entities are imported highpoly components and of which a single lamp in the bathroom has 1.7 million entities.
Normally, it would be more useful for you to create your correctly optimized model from the beginning, rather than struggling to work with it after importing what you find through 3D Warehouse or encountering other problems.
This! All of this! I generally break different area out of my main model when designing houses and add detail to the separate file. That way, my main file doesn’t get bloated and has only the information I need to produce the construction / permit documents. The broken out files are for show.
Doh! Wouldn’t you know, I did the same thing. I was cursing at Layout today, and finally realized the kitchen faucet I grabbed in a hurry from a previous job had a massive polygon count.
Considering that the project for the authorization of construction works contains in most cases plans at a scale of 1:50, 1:100, almost all the furniture and all the details of the objects should be lowpoly.
The bevel for corners can be completely missing instead of the 12 segments. Circles and arcs can also have 3 segments for many of the objects (lamps, pipes, faucets, etc…).
Plants can also be optimized, eliminating the 12-segment arcs and the details for each leaf, replacing them with a quad face (5 segments-2 faces).
Pipes, baseboards, doors, beveled windows and many others, printed at that scale will look fine without all those details.
All of this, at the level of an entire apartment/house, if you create the necessary library of lowpoly objects, would keep a SketchUp file light, and LayOut would load quickly, without blockages.
