Layout keeps resetting the viewport - scene, style, scale, etc. I keep getting the warning symbol that the model needs to be updated. But the model hasn’t changed. I’ve checked references - everything is current. I deleted unused components. I also get a hand to position the model in the viewport. Which I do. But then it snaps back. I get the viewport into position - lock it. It resets.
Even if I manage to get the viewport aligned, layout then freezes, and stops responding. To change scale, I have to keep double clicking the yellow triangle. It will arbitrarily reset the scale. I’ve reinstalled. Disabled extensions.
I opened and saved the file in SU 2026 and LO 2026. Everything seems to work fine. In Layout I did notice you are using hybrid and vector for rendering the viewports. Coming from a vector CAD background myself, I also used to struggle wanting vector results for my outputs, but realized LO is too slow for that. The good news is that on a modern computer, LO is really fast with Raster rendering and if you set your settings to render at “high” quality
you can get very nice results in a fraction of the time. When setting all viewports to “Raster” your entire project renders all viewports on all pages in 6 seconds on my system.
A related note, I have had problems in the past with LO changing the viewport settings. To avoid this from possibly happening in the future, I tend to set everything the way I want in SU and save the scene. I try to limit how much I customize a viewport in LO to avoid errors. Recently I had a project where the only thing I changed in the viewport in Layout was which tag to show existing versus proposed. On a subsequent revision to the drawings, one of the 60 plus sheets I had in the set, LO changed the viewport back to the scenes default tag setup. This was for an existing drawing that I did not even work on, so it can be frustrating to have LO occasionally have these mishaps.
Thank you, I’ll just the settings. I set up the scenes so that when I import into LO they are pretty much good to go. I’ve restarted my computer. I’ll just keep trying.
Move your file out of DropBox and into a local folder.
Only use DropBox to archive or share. Using a cloud service for working files is a sure way to end up with something being corrupted.
You have a lot of high detail components. You might consider re-thinking how your build your models - and where or if you need this level of detail for certain components:
LayOut needs to process all that geometry when it renders. Some of those pipes and fittings can be drawn with a smaller number of segments. Same for the handles and gearing… but you have to decide how much detail you need for your use.
Good to know about reset all. I brought in a lot of assets from the warehouse as this was a quick concept model for the designer - so kept looking to see if there was something in the assets that was causing problems like a hidden geo location or something. I’ll pay more attention to Untagged geometry. The files are on my computer. The Dropbox folder was just to share the files.
