Hi there ,
I am having real problems with layout. it is taking 10-15 minutes to update even very simple viewports from sketchup model.
I have purged both the sketchup model and the layout page.
I have also checked for updates.

Share the LayOut file so we can see what you are working with and test it on a different machine.
Your profile says you are using 2025. Have you updated to 2026 yet?

Hi there I have not updated to 2026 - I have only just got myself settled in 2025 and want to avoid having to set myself up again if possible. I am fairly new to sketchup and layout
I did a little cleanup in your SketchUp model. Fixed incorrect tag usage …
Purged unused stuff from the model.
And then, as I was looking at what remains I note you have a different style for each scene but there’s no real need for them. You can manage with a single style so I fixed that, too.
Here I’m makeing a small change in the model, saving that change, and then going back to the LO file. You can see how quickly it updates. This is in real time on my computer.
If yours take much long
A side note: I see that you’ve modified the Camera properties for all of the viewports in your LO file. This isn’t a good idea. If the viewports get reset you will create a lot of work for yourself. Here’s an example. Note the Reset button in the Camera section of the SketchUp Model panel.
Hello, thank you for taking all this time.
My model / layout takes about 10 minutes to update vs. your very quick update. How do I check re. that “Intel Iris GPU?” how do I find out if that is definitely what I have and also if its not up to speed for my requirements what can I do to fix it?
Thank you for your other points of guidance. I appreciate it. I am just working through your points now.
I would like to implement your notes but I can’t quite understand how I switch off the reset and also how I stop having different styles that I don’t need. Do I do this in my sketchup model?
Click on the apple icon at the top left corner of the screen. You should be able to get the information about your computer from there.
Also check the system requirements for SketchUp to compare.
Generally the fix would be to replace your computer to get a newer machine with a suitable graphics card.
Clicking on the Reset button for each viewport will remove the overrides. Due to the modifications you’ve made, it would probably be easier to start over with a new LO document. Do not double click into the viewports to pan, orbit, or zoom the camera. There’s no reason to do that with your scenes set as they are. After you set up the viewports correctly you can go in and add the other content like your hatched shapes and dimensions.
As you are creating new scenes, pay attention to what you’ve already done. If you modify a style before creating or updating a scene you should be getting a warning message asking you whether you want to create a new style or update the existing style. Pay attention to that. If you already have a style that looks the same, hit Cancel, select the existing style in the Styles panel and then create the scene.
Thank you so much. I have checked my info and it says graphics:
Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 1536 MB
My computer is quite old.
thank you for those other notes I will work through that now
