LayOut does not point to default template folder by default

Hello there,

First and foremost, thank you for your great softwares. It really is a pleasure using SketchUp instead of other incredibly messy and obnoxious ones like those made by Autodesk.

I’d like to report an annoying bug that should be really easy to fix.
I’ve installed Sketchup in the french language, and it seems that the base settings didn’t record the default folder for templates. The path C:/ProgramData/SketchUp/SketchUp 2021/Layout/fr/templates was used while all the nice default templates were in C:/ProgramData/SketchUp/SketchUp 2021/Layout/templates (not in the fr subfolder). Same for scrapbooks. So I simply added the missing pathes. Maybe they’d need to be translated, but it’s really nice to have all these arrows and title blocks and sheets ready when you start up the program.

Thank you for your attention,
Best regards.

There are 13 supported languages in SketchUp, and the text in the templates that have text is never translated, so only shows up in the English folders.

The templates are LayOut files, and most people solve the problem by browsing to C:/ProgramData/SketchUp/SketchUp 2021/Layout/templates, and only opening the template that they are interested in. You can then save that as one of your own templates.

I agree that it would be nice to see them all in every language, even if you were given the English text. For now, the work around gives you what you need, and at least you only see the templates you are really interested in.

Hello,

I see, I’ll do just that.
