Hi,
I drew a floor plan in SU pro. Set a plan view scene. Sent to Layout, started dimensioning which seem to be accurate. After adding some text and pattern fill, went back to dimension tab, and can not get the same scale back. im clicking auto scale, but it seems to do nothing. Any help would be appreciated. thx.
Post the file so we can see how it is setup.
What is the scale of the sketch up model?
What is the dimension showing? Is it the real world size of the shape you drew on your sheet?
You can manually change the scale by selecting the dimension and using the dimension pallet. You can transfer these settings to other dimensions using the eye dropper tool.
Auto scale needs to read the sketch up view below. If something you have drawn gets in the way it won’t pick up the right scale.
This is your drawing that you sent to me by PM:

You don’t have this setup properly.
In SketchUp the camera needs to be in Parallel projection:
Then make sure you are in top view.
Then update Scene 1.
In Layout you can set the scale (note here that it is not showing ‘ortho’ - which means you are trying to dimension a perspective drawing.
You really should start with the basics:
Understood. Believe it or not, ive been using this for about 10 years. I just never have the time to watch videos and take tutorials. Im sure I could be more efficient, but never have the time when under the gun. I appreciate your help. I’ll be in touch when I get stuck again. Thanks.
I don’t believe it, but good luck…
Time to bother someone else but no time to learn to do it properly? Sounds like a strange way to be efficient, under the gun or not.
