I expect one of the issues is the excessive detail in components like the pickup truck. There’s a lot of geometry there that your computer needs to process when LayOut is rendering. You could simplify it considerably which ought to help. Or replace it with a lower-poly component.
I noticed a little bit of incorrect tag usage.
And some unused stuff to purge.
Why are you only updating to SketchUp 2021 now? As of January 31, the 3D Warehouse doesn’t support that version anymore.
FWIW, I’m not seeing any significant delay in updating the viewports in your file on my PC with LO2023.
All edges and faces should be created and remain untagged. Only groups and components should get tags. Probably the incorrect tag usage in your model came in with something you collected from the 3D Warehouse.
FWIW, I deleted the pickup truck component and purged unused again.
File size was reduced forom your 22.8Mb to only 9.39Mb. That truck is more than half your file size. Is it worth that?
Thank you !! I did not realize that I could not use the “untagged” tag (that is new from v18 so I am still getting up to speed on that). I will have to dig into my objects and assign those to another layer.
All these steps should solve the issue.
I really appreciate the help!!! thank you thank you!
That’s not what I was getting at. In SketchUp 2018 all edges and faces were to be created and remain with Layer 0 assigned to them. It’s the same with tags. Mainly just a name change although there are additional features with tags that layers didn’t have. The key is that Untagged should remain active at all times, all geometry should remain untagged and only the groups and components in the model should be given tags.
