hello, i seem to have an issue updating a layout file after making some changes to my model (specifically it seems like the problem originated when I started adding some high poly count furniture and other objects). Even though i have the high poly objects turned off in the relevant scenes i’m trying to update Layout just beachballs (I’m on MacOS obvs) and I have to force quit. I’d been hoping to move to an “one model” model: one model for renderings, layout, etc but this issue is causing me to reconsider. Any advice? I’m going to save a copy and delete the high poly components and see if that changes thing. Thank you
well that did it! turning off the high poly count stuff works…shocker! Any advice for folks who are doing a one model approach on how to deal with this issue? I’m sure low poly count components would help but I have a hard time finding ones I like. Separately I appreciate that the renders and drawings are in alignment rather than having multiple files/models
One model doesn’t work for me… my exterior renders need way different things than my interior renders which are different than shop drawings which are different than construction drawings.
And my materials are different in each. Larger more detailed textures on the interiors than the exteriors, simplified materials on the construction documents, etc.
thanks Mike, what have you found is the best way to track changes/updates between the various models?
Paper and pencil as needed. Otherwise marked up PDFs when I have to track changes with clients in meetings and then work them through.
But typically my process is staged so by the time I get to construction documents changes are minimal.
Keep entourage organized by tags so you can keep their visibility off in Layout. Don’t attempt to renter high poly items as vector or hybrid. If you are referencing specific SketchUp scenes in layout that do not have high poly items visible a one model approach is workable.
