Layout Auto Text

Hi all,

I am trying to create a sequence for a sheet number with the format of eg. A100, A200, A300 etc.

I have inserted the letter ‘A’ and have created the attached sequence. Although I dont know what the difference is between per sheet or per page, it does not work.

Are trying to number your sheets automatically with this number sequence?

You are using the “sequence” type of Auto-Text. This is intended to make sequences for heading sections of your model that auto advance each time you copy-paste or copy-move the text box. If you wanted to stamp numbers onto a bunch of items in your drawing or make a numbered list this would be the tool. The per document or per page setting decides weather this sequence resets on each individual page or if the sequence continues to advance throughout the whole document. You could use this to make sheet numbers but its cumbersome, you would need to copy paste each one on each subsequent page and manually update and monitor the sequence to make sure it stayed correct for you doc.

If you use the Page Number type of Autotext it will be ready to count pages. Then you only need place the auto-text once on a layer that is shared on every page of your doc and the numbers will update automatically. Keep in mind that you can combine regular text and auto-text in once text box. So a potential way to create the sheet numbering you are looking for is to make a text box that contains A<PageNumber>00 without spaces and set the auto text to count pages by 1. Placing this on an every page layer will write A100, A200, A300 on each page automatically and will renumber dynamically as you add, delete, or insert pages.
