Problem with a sequenced list in Layout

Hi, I’m using pro24 on a mac. I pulled the contents table from the scrapbook, all good, page numbers auto text all good but I want to label the drawings with a drawing number but counts the drawing number in the contacts table as an item. I know this is user error but I am a bit stuck. Can some one help. I have watched the latest auto-text video and the tables video but I can’t find where I am getting it wrong.
Cheers Mike

You can have multiple sequence types per page.

Type Example:
1, 2, 3,
A, B, C,
01, 02, 03,

You may be using a Sequence Type twice. Check the auto text being used.

Hi, Thanks for your help, I’ve checked it and I’ve got 01, 02,03 for the page number and 1,2,3, for the drawing number. I might just set up a legend on the actual page for the drawing number and just manually fill it in on the table.

I’m going to try it again, I just noticed that the contents table is using sheet number instead of page number and that is suing the same sequence as the drawing number! I’ll see how it goes.

I’d be willing to bet there is your issue…
Because you can’t see/read the auto texted being used, unless you double click into the text…
it can very quickly become confusing.

I use them mostly for title views.
A.0.
It would then look like A1.0
Then copy them from page to page. And I know they are auto-text.
I do the same for tables…

Oh… maybe that’s where you got the page numbers. There is one scrapbooks.

I would make mine from scratch. It’s helpful to fully understand how it’s built.

Thank you, I got it working but not quite as I thought. Once I’ve got this job out the door I will make my own, you’re right, best way forward.
Thank you for your help.

Oh my goodness me, I have still having real trouble with it. No when I write text say DWG no. Sheet no. when I click out and move the cursor the numbers where A and Sheet are start going up in value!! Just in general I can’t get it to work but now it seems to be really weird. Any ideas? I want a table of contents that labels the sheet or page number and a drawing number that refers to each drawing too, I can’t seem to get it to work and now it’s just getting weird. Can you help? Thank you Mike

Sounds like you may need to “right click” on the text label and select re-order.

That being said… labels will start the count, sequentially from the order they were created / pasted on the sheet.

To be fair. I deal with sheet sets well over 50 sheets. And there are very few things I use auto-text for. And my table of contents is definitely not one of them. Layout is not Revit… it’s ability to link to information across the sheets is very limited.

It may be easier to create a table in a spreadsheet… then link that data / file in a table. That way you can use the convenience of “Excel” and forgo the frustration and time wasted trying to get things to automate.

Yeah I’m starting to get a grip of Layouts limitations with this regard. I’ve never used revit. I may well go down the excel route next time. I seem to have something working now but it’s a lot of filling in numbers!! Thank you
