I have an issue with Layout crashing at a startup, no matter whether it is a new template file, one of the new models or an existing Layout file. Please help, What might have I done wrong? )
I’ve been using Sketchup & Layout for many years. Currently, it is 2023 and 2024 on two devices (2023 on iMac Pro 2017 (for the Enscape to function) and 2024 on MacBook Pro 2018) both with macOS Sonoma 14.5.
when layout crashes, you then get a bugsplat report you can send so devs can take a look;
when mac os crashes, the whole computer shuts down and on restart you get a crash report from apple.
Sonoma came with security measures that caused problems with SU2023, layout should be fine though…
Thank you, @ateliernab,
Layout is crushing and I’m not sure if the report would be sent automatically. Think previously there was a dedicated button for it, now it’s either “ok” or “reopen”. Attached is a screenshot
I tried already reinstalling Sketchup a few times. At first, I thought the issue was with the files loaded from
It is definitely not wise to be working on files saved directly to your Google Drive. You should have any reference files used in your LayOut project saved to the internal drive of your computer. If you want to save a copy to your Google Drive collect the references and the LayOut file into a folder and sync that but do not work on any of those files unless you download them to your computer first.
Thank you, @DaveR, in the past the Drive was synchronised with the computer and all worked well for years
Now however the issue is not with the Google Drive
I’d say you’ve been fortunate. A simple search here will turn up numerous reports of corrupted SketchUp files due to issues related to working with cloud-saved files.
When there are issues with the Google Drive synchronising, it feels like having a possibility for uploading the Layout files on Trimble Connect would be beneficial ) …but its another topic
Our studio needs to keep all progress files on the team drive for the team members to access. Think I was synchronizing both files (Layout & Sketchup) to the computer for editing. And when there were any corrupt views - a simple refresh & render were solving it.
