I have to wind back and use LO2025 to export some files as LO2026 persistently crashes on export PDF. Other files don’t seem to be affected. I do submit all my Bugsplats.
I also get some of these crashes. As soon as the latest version appears to be unstable I scrap it and go back to a version that is stable. I have recently been using Su 2026 and Layout 2023. There are formatting problems sometimes but the reality is I need to get things done. I do give the latest release a try. My feeling is the Sketchup team doesnt do beta testing on real projects. It seems like they use us as beta testers. One thing that caught my attention a while back was a discussion about Dark Mode (I could care less about Dark Mode) where a team member commented about how a version on the Ipad or maybe it was the online version that had the feature. It doesnt matter but the point was that the software that could be changed was new and changing Sketchup desktop or Mac was a problem because it was on old code. I remember back around Windows 95 Microsoft finally had to totally rewrite Windows as the PC version was evolved from the DOS roots of the software and the “UNIX” version was brought out Windows NT still wasnt the fix and they rewrote the whole thing. I think its probably time for Sketchup to do a rewrite. A bicycle innertube can only be patched so many times. Bottom line is we need a stable version compatibility with older versions will go away.
